The load boards are great tools and you can get a lot of loads using them, but there are some tricks to using them that most people don't talk about. You can post your Truck in two different ways: A.) City-to-City, and B.) Market-to-Market. We're all working on our process improvements, and when it comes to finding loads you’ll have better luck with posting your Truck as Market-to-Market as opposed to City-to-City.
This is a pretty good trick that took me a while to make a habit, but once I started doing it consistently I started to receive a lot more calls on my loads. Let's look at an example. Let's say you have your Truck located in Roswell, Georgia and you're looking for loads. You could pop onto the DAT load board and post up your truck saying your current location is Roswell, Georgia and if you pull that up on a map you'll see that it's just north of Atlanta. Well, Atlanta has a much more major market compared to Roswell... So you can either post your truck up as being in Roswell or, since you're just 30-to-40 minutes north of the "major" market, you could post your Truck up as being in Atlanta. If you do I can 100% guarantee you that you're going to get more calls and more offers on loads to run.
This is called posting your truck Market-to-Market vs City-to-City. Give it a try and you will see positive results.
